jkph00:I'm wondering how to say "to re-cover a book," i.e., to have a new cover put on a book. Perhaps "tegi denove (or 'novan' ) kovrilon" or something similar? Or could one construct a verb "rekovriligi?" The Lingvohelpilo asked if I might have meant "rekovriligiĝi"? (Whew! It would take me a while to see why that might be the case.)If you are going to strip off the original cover and replace it, you can say:
surmeti novan kovrilon sur libron - put a new cover on(to) a book
If you are just going to put a protective cover over the original cover, then "tegi" (cover over) would be right:
tegi libron per plasto - cover (over) a book with plastic

Are you replacing the cover boards (anstataŭigo de kovriloj), or replacing the dust-jacket/protective cover (anstataŭigo de jaketo/ŝirmilo), or getting something back stolen from the library?
I think you can tolerate a certain ambiguity in re-kovri libron.
As Noelekim indicates you can always be more explicit.
What about re-kovrumi?

sudanglo:'To recover a book' isn't that exact an expression in English. All of your and Noelekim's suggestions, Sudanglo, are certainly applicable. My thanks to you both! I like the open-ended flavor of re-kovrilumi, too. It leaves room for the imagination and might answer. What I am trying to express, though, is that I am having someone else put a new, hard cover on an originally softback book, gluing the paperback cover onto it, i.e. ultimately including the original. That's why I was trying the -ig construction, though evidently without success.
