I edited the result as far the program allows, but otherwise I didn't make any corrections in the text in order to show what the translator is - and isn't - capable of. There are quite a few points of difficulty in this passage.

For example, capturing the tone of 'stuff happens' presents a challenge. Aferoj okazas is too bland. I haven't settled on a translation which is entirely satisfactory yet, but here are some possibilities.

Oni ne povas eviti eventojn
Aferoj emas evolui/disvolviĝi.
Oni ne povas antaŭvidi ĉion.

Of these I think I most favour the first at the moment as it conforms with the subject of the passage - dealing with uncertainty.

Edit: a good translation here will capture the feeling of a shrug of the shoulders. So I now add to my list Situacioj evoluas
