Why do people even bother with Esperanto if they don't like it?

morfran:

If both of you have had your own youthful indiscretions with neologisms, and both of you have evolved to your present linguistic rectitude on your own — presumably without first being branded apostates by the Esperanto community — then I still don’t understand why the threshold of tolerance for other people still in the flower of their own noobulence is so low in here. If your own naismo and farismo didn’t seriously threaten the language, surely we can afford to let even the most stubborn of noobs get it out of their systems on their own without hypocritically whipping out the Willy Wonka memes so soon after their arrival in the forum.
i agree with you in theory, but in practice i don't think that a bit of sarcasm is that bad... just to make things more spicy

I'm not sure what that means?

Roughly translated, it means “Who cares about hypocrisy? Online bullying is fun!”

AllenHartwell et alii, you have convinced me, and I want to beg your pardon for not seeing the underlying truth earlier and for not recognising your posts for what they are: the zealous expression of unshaking faith.

Zamenhof:Kaj mi diras al vi, ke vi estas Petro, kaj sur ĉi tiu roko mi konstruos mian eklezion;
And this "rock" is the Fundamento. And hard as a rock it must be to withstand the onslaught of reformist traitors and heretics.

And wasn't it Zamenhof himself who wrote:
Zamenhof:Aleksandro ne volas lerni, kaj tial mi batas Aleksandron.
This is not an example sentence, I now recognise that it is a commandment. We must beat and hit and strike all those infidels who don't want to learn Esperanto in the fundamental and canonical way. Zamenhof wrote it, and it is now our holy duty, chore and privilege to carry out as he commands.

Hmm.......there's sarcasm and then there's reductio ad absurdium.

The character in the image is Eddard Stark from HBO's show adaptation of the "A Game of Thrones" books. In this fantasy world summer and winter last random lengths of time and last for periods of many of our years. This character's people have a saying/family motto of "Winter is coming", which this meme makes fun of by regarding reformemuloj as a bad thing which needs to be prepared for.

But on topic, I like patrik's analogy: if you don't follow the rules, you aren't playing the game. North Korea has their own basketball rules, so they aren't really playing basketball, and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who disagrees with this. If you don't follow the rules of Esperanto then you aren't speaking Esperanto; you're speaking Reformed Esperanto - a completely different language.

"Aleksandro" is either "Alexander" or "Alexandra".
We shall beat everyone who isn't willing to learn, not only males. Anything else would be sexist.

Aren't you exaggerating a little? There's no hypocrisy because while others explain their reasons I post this to have a laugh, this also shows that this phenomenon is common and well known. So the comprehension is not missed, others provide it. Bullying then... I was mocked too when I expressed my doubts about the accusative and I learnt my lesson. I hope no one committed suicide because of that image. Maybe it was inappropriate to use it in a serious thread, I give you that.

Wrong:

PIV

*Aleksandr/o. Vira nomo, i.a. de la Makedonia reĝo (Aleksandro 3a la Granda, 4a jc a.K.), konkerinto de la Persa imperio; (karesformo: *Aleĉjo).

For me PIV has more authority than you.
