Anki deck with 500 of the most used root words

I created an Anki deck which has 500 of the most used rootwords in esperanto (in order). I also added in pronunciations, pronouns and affixes because there are many duplicates with Esperanto from English. So, I rounded it out to 504 cards. ridego.gif

It's still a work in progress - I have to finish putting in all the example sentences, but it has all the essential elements: the root words and their definition.

So, check it out if you want and let me know what you think or find anything funky!

i'm using the roots in esperanto to learn but i had to create myself, you sharing your deck is really helpful to other people.
How is your esperanto level ?

I'd say intermediate. I always shoved new words into my head to become conversational but neglected the finer points of the grammar. So, now I'm working on all that fun stuff. ridego.gif

I didn't know Anki was this well-known and popular. I use Anki too. I am studying German, Hungarian, and Esperanto. My Hungarian deck is pretty small, and I haven't made an Esperanto deck. My German deck had a few hundred cards in it, so it took a lot of work to get it where it is.

Anyways, just a few days ago I had to format my SD card because it wasn't working properly and I wasn't able to put files onto it. I had to think if I had anything important that I should move to another folder and I couldn't think of anything since I really don't use my SD card or phone that often. But, in the end: I forgot about Anki. There went 200+ cards (in one deck alone) and all the time it took to make those cards. So this weekend I'm going to have to re-create the deck.

This is irrelevant to the thread; I just wanted to share my experience with Anki. Thank you for making your deck public, it will save me the time of having to start another new deck.

I'm the complete opposite. I have spent all my time studying the grammar but have not put two seconds into acquiring vocabulary. Now when I read Esperanto, (and type it), I have to search the vortaro for every other word, but at least I understand how they are being used in the sentence.

You know you can create an account there and sync your decks/progress across all your platforms (computer, phone, tablet)?

Oh dear, yes- yes I do know that. I just never thought of creating an account because I thought the only purpose would be to share your decks. I never thought anyone would need my decks so I never made one.

Thank you for helping me realize this; I will definitely make an account now.

By the way, do you use Skype? I need contacts to practice with.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of grammar in the first place, and I'm even less of a fan of small talk. So, I wanted to be able to talk to esperantistoj without talking about the weather or where they live... So, I learned all the grammar you really need to know - root classes, accusative, ktp - because after you know that, you can pretty much word your way around any of the other use cases of the accusative or adverb or whatever.

I've neglected it lately, but yes.

Congratulations for the Anki deck package. I haven't used it (yet, anyway), but I am familiar with Anki. It even seems to have more bells, whistles, and gongs than I would use, but some people might find them useful. Incidentally, I myself created an Anki deck package for the 375 radicals of Kenneth Searight's "auxiliary neutral language" SONA (available in the files section of the sona_language group on Yahoo).
