All are correct except the last: "Mi estas nova membro/ano." Ek- does not convey newness.

I suppose that the interesting question here is what is the difference between komenci legi and eklegi.
Perhaps, eklegi has the nuance of take a look at.
Ek has the idea of beginning (sometimes with a suggestion of suddenness or abrupt start), and also of short duration. Ekbrilo de fulmo would be a flash of lightning. Ekkrii would be to cry out.
Note that you could say tuj post eklego vi konstatos ke ... but this would be clumsy with 'post komenco de legado'.
A useful phrase is Ni eku! - let's go, get started.
