Has anyone ever been to an Esperanto Congress or one of the large anual events that occur sometimes. If so, what was the best and worst part?

I have to confess that I feel strong antipathy to idea of Esperanto 'congresses'. I prefer 'non-clenched/unceremonious' Esperanto events like JES, FESTO, SES. All of these are listed at eo.wikipedia.org .

Best part - wide variety of activities, coolness factor of simply seeing a ton of Esperanto speakers in one place.
Worst part - if it is your first very large event and you don't know anyone there, it's easy to get lost in the crowd and not have a good time, unless you are very assertive with talking to people you don't know. Unless you are a very assertive person (I'm not), I generally recommend attending a smaller event as your very first Esperanto event ever.
