Wondering Lernu would do a barcode for the mobile phone users, they do not have to type in the website but scan it via the mobile phone which has android.
This would also easier for promoting lernu in many websites
Thanks

se:SalutonYou can quickly and easily generate a QR code here that can be read by smartphones, or a barcode here.

jamesstytle, assumes that the site works fine on the IPhone (which I have verified, and he is well wrong, well it is usable, but still unpleasant).
I personally am very surprised that Lernu still has not become a player in the mobile phone industry. Seriously the advent of phones being used by a majority of people was ages ago (4 years or so). Lernu needs to make a move on!

I have done it for the Malaysia Esperanto Studies Group. The lernu site will let them do it.

A new version of the site is in the works but it depends a lot on the work of volunteer collaborators and other people who also have day jobs. This isn't a site that anyone works on as their sole full-time job.

erinja:lernu is a free site run by three people with day jobs, plus a large number of unpaid volunteers who work if/when they have some free time, mainly on translation and tutoring.I click on the ads every once and a while. Are there other ways to support the site?

Maybe, instead of focusing on new features, the first step should be to do fundraising. If it is easy for someone to pay then they will. For example, I will never enter my credit card number or use something like paypal because it is a headache. It is not about the money, it is about having a headache and worrying about security. However, there are better ways. You can set up an sms based donation system. The website send an sms and then the person replies with a specific code. The money is simply added to the phone bill. A lot of charities are using this method.
I few days ago I saw a cashu card at the store. I don't know how it works but I assume that you simply buy the card and then you can top up a cashu account. Then the cashu credits can be transfered.
Right now, I have money in my pocket. I have money in my bank account. I would be happy to give some of it away if it was easy and secure. I am sure other people are in the same boat.
Finally, there is no shame in making money. Their hard work is appreciated but you guys really need to figure out a way to get an income for them.
Just my opinion.

A lot of these donation systems take such a large percentage of donations that it's not worth it for the kinds of small numbers that we usually deal with. You can donate to lernu by check or bank transfer if you don't like using PayPal; details are on this site.

Sending pull requests , forking the project etc? I am currently building a Bildoj kaj Demandoj replica in Duolingo responsive style, but just using it for personal use.

I second the SMS donation option, tons of websites nowadays (at least Swedish ones) use that for payment. Of course, I don't know how difficult it is to set up.
There are also actually people like me, who for various reasons have some kind of mobile phone but no bank account lol (not that I assume there are many of us). There may also be other ad sites that work better (ex Project Wonderful vs. Google Adsense).
