tcql and I are working towards setting up a gamejam for December, where the games will be either in Esperanto or about Esperanto.

If you'd like to help us plan things by giving us feedback or volunteering, please check out the thread I posted on Reddit.

Thanks!

very cool!
unfortunately, I haven't been involved in game SW in about 18-20 years (back in the shrinkwrap days) so I can be of little help beyond spreading the word.

I recommend rpg maker xp, vx, and vx ace, for the budding game maker that wants to quickly make a game, also unlike r2k/2k3 they support Esperanto characters.
I am going to use rpg maker (or renpy)! ridego.gif

I hope a lot of people will participate! ridulo.gif

I take it those are rapid proto tools? (forgive me, I'm from the shrinkwrap day)

Well, sort of. These tools are "complete", so if one was serious, they could make a great game in it.

Rpg maker can be used for proto typing games, however I would use game maker for proto typing.

I have played some fairly decent games made with rpg maker xp / vx / vx ace.
These ones also use ruby as a programming interface. ridulo.gif

I also mentioned Ren'py, that is for creating visual novels, and it is a fantastic tool! ridulo.gif

Sadly, I have to use 2k3 as the newest versions don't work on Crossover on a Mac D : But if someone were able to make a patch that makes them work... (The problem is that playtesting and playing for real, don't work. So you can edit the game but you can't ever play it.)

The workaround for Esperanto characters not working in 2k3 is that you can just edit the in-game font so that x or ð for example (useless characters that do work) look like ĝ and ĥ and so on.

Don't forget that you can make text adventure games!!!

If you go here: http://textadventures.co.uk/create
You can choose "Esperanto" from the making option, both online and on the desktop version. The desktop one won't work on a Mac (on Crossover, anyway) but the online version works fine.

There's also this by the same people, which is "creating multiple-choice interactive fiction" and the program works on all manners of OS.

There is a solution...

I just googled "RPG Maker VX on Mac" and I stumbled upon this web blog:
http://blog.rpgmakerweb.com/tips-and-tricks/rpg-ma...

It seems that he emulates windows through a Virtual Machine, and runs RPG Maker through that..

I do not know if you can get RPG Maker to work Natively on make as, it was made for windows lango.gif

Blasphemy! lango.gif
Convert to Linux and write your own game engine in C; it is much less of a hassle. okulumo.gif

It would take longer to make a game engine. lango.gif

But, I do prefer Linux, so someone totally should do it. okulumo.gif

Anything at all that costs money, even a super tiny amount, is a no-can-do. But I will see if I can, ehem, somehow get these things for free...

As for programming, I don't have the patience to learn haha!!
