Hello all.

I am using Kurso de Esperanto to teach myself Esperanto. I am currently working on Leciono 7- Prepositions. On one of the examples, I think I found a mistake. Please take a look at this,

da- of (for quantities.) / Kiom da leteroj sxi skribis?

Should that say "Kiom da leterojn sxi skribis?

Should "leteroj" be in the accusative case here?

The accusative is only used after prepositions when motion is indicated.

Nope. I had the same feeling about Lernu!'s exam! I was pretty sure it was a mistake. Seems to be logical that way to Finno-Ugrics.

After "da" they don't use an accusative. Kompatinde, "Kiom?" itself don't have an accusative too:
Kiom da patrinoj havas tiom da filinoj?
It is not clear, what is the subject and what is the object. We can decide only by logic: daughter can have only one mother.
Fortunately, "Kiom?" can be followed not only by "da", but also by an adjective: "Kiom longa?", "Kiom larga?", "Kiom multa?". So, we can say:
Kiom multaj patrinoj havas tiom multajn filinojn?
