I noticed that when Ke is used in a sentence, the following verb should end with -U. I think they call this an imperative verb.

These examples are from "Exercise - When should I use the -u verb ending?"

1- Mi ne volas, ke li vizitu min ankoraŭfoje

2- Mi deziras, ke vi atingu multon en via vivo

3- Telefonu min antaŭ via foriro, por ke mi povu prepariĝi

4- La frato petis, ke mi revenu pli frue por ke mi helpu lin.

Use the -u ending (imperative, jussive, exhortative) when you want to express a desire, an order or in general the idea that someone please do something.

Mi scias, ke vi faros gxin.
No order, but a fact, hence no -u.

Mi volas, ke vi faru gxin.
A desire, an order. I want you to do something. Hence the -u.

Not sure if an English subjunctive works in these cases:
Ili diras, ke li estas hejme.
They say that he is home.

Ili diras, ke li estu hejme.
They say that he be home.

I usually think of the -u as a "should" form.

He should be there -- Li estu tie! (stronger, to my ear, than "Li devus esti tie")

Mi volas ke vi iru -- figuratively "I want that you should go", but in usual English we say "I want him to go".

Not always:

Mi neniam sciis, ke la cxielo bluas.
