matthew0312:I've noticed that there are not many words for percussion instruments played with mallets, such as the marimba. Here I've proposed words that fit in accordance with Esperanto grammar; hopefully they can see use. Please give feedback, as I am not yet very good in Esperanto, so I don't know if these words would work with Esperanto's phonetics and such.Using my dictionaries, I discovered there are already terms for Marimba (marimbo) and Vibraphone/Vibes (vibrafono). I could not find anything for Crotales, but since that instrument appears to be a set of tuned cymbals, I think I'd call it an 'agordita cimbalaro', or 'agordita cimbalo' if not in a set. If the size needed to be specified against the ordinary cymbal, one can always add '-et' to the name.
Marimba -> Marimbo
Vibraphone -> Vibrafono
Vibes -> Viboj
Crotales -> Crotaloj
Several of the wikipedia articles give the instrument the alternate name of 'antique cymbals'. For that, I'd say either 'antikvaj cimbaloj' or 'pracimbaloj'. I'd prefer the former term since they come as a tuned set (according to the article.)
