I really like this video about marketing.
I have noticed some contention in these forums, regarding the issue of strange people within the Esperanto Movement. Maybe, being strange is a good thing. Like Seth says in the video, it is dangerous to be normal (from a marketing perspective).
There is a town in Canada called Vulcan. This is not a joke. I have been there myself. Star Trek nuts have been visiting it for years. If it was called anything else, then it would just be another no-name, obscure town that nobody knows about.
Maybe, being normal = being easily ignored.

Alkanadi:I really like this video about marketing. Also, "take a chance" Riverside Iowa's town festival is Trek Fest: Back when the whale movie was out, one of the town council was at a planning meeting for the town festival and remembered Kirk's line "No, I'm from Iowa, I only work in outer space" when he was at dinner with the whale science lady, and the councilman said, "Let's write to Roddenberry and see if we can be Kirks hometown". They did and Gene said yes, so Riverside is now officially the Future Birthplace of Capt. James T. Kirk.

or so the story goes .......although I believe in the 2009 movie it shows him living in Riverside (tangent: I live Iowa City, 12 miles north of there and have yet to see any indications of that canyon that was shown in the movie, haha)
