Vestitor:The premise of this entire enterprise is misguided. Why would anyone go to the trouble of learning Esperanto in the first place just to get themselves into an 'Esperanto University'? (which they wouldn't know about anyway because they don't speak Esperanto!!).I wish you could think critically, vertically and horizontally. Why people needs to learn Esperanto ? Why don't you ask why UNESCO and UNWTO wanted to accept the proposal for using Esperanto for International language and tourism language ?
Having people translate parts of their work on other courses into Esperanto is artificially shoehorning Esperanto into the mix for no apparent reason other than a group somewhere wanting it to be so. Personally, I'd find it super if Esperanto was accepted as an official language for submitting written work, but the structure has to exist where people marking it, can actually read it properly.
No, first of all Esperanto has to be being taught in the education system prior to university. There is a rather common opinion that it's better to learn Esperanto as an adult (which I personally find foolish); it may explain a few things about why Esperanto is looked at from outside as a toy language. You need to sow it into the culture early if you want to reap results.
If you could answer these simple questions, you should know why Esperanto college is needed. Do think too for the poor people, non language lovers, mostly, esperanto speakers are language lovers. If a Thai youngster cannot get into the local university, why would s/he go ?
Learn another ten years of English and enroll in the University of London external programme ?
