I've been looking for the word in esperanto for Genie as in the genie in the magic lamp, can't find it anywhere.

According to the CEED, it's "ĝino".

Also, here's a link to the the story Aladino kaj la Mirinda Lampo, in which the word is used quite a bit.

I wonder why they use the word ĝino.

There is this meaning:

But also the meaning of gin:

They could have use feo ?

With lampfeo this is sure it's not something filled with gin. ridulo.gif
