Heya!

Was going to post in a newbie-beginner-type thread but couldn't find one, so thought I'd post here with a question too.

I'm starting learning Esperanto in conjunction with Icelandic (only one is academic, guess which), and my university English and Sociology degree. I've been terrible at second languages until now, but I am finding Esperanto is helping me to learn Icelandic and I am starting to pick up bits and pieces of Spanish and French as I go, it seems.

Anyway, onto the question, which has probably been asked before (ekskuzoj!):

I use Mac OS X (Leopard), and want to be able to use Esperanto characters easily. I read the wikipedia article that suggests, as a Brit, I should use the Irish extended keyboard. My question is, will changing it to this have any other affect on my typing/keys?

Also, if anyone could tell me a little more clearly than wikipedia how to change it, I'd be grateful. Otherwise I'll have to spend another 20 mins reading the article!

Danko!

Form an orderly queue, now lango.gif

Seriously, I realise I may be the only Mac user here but if anyone could help I'd be very grateful. I tried the Irish and US Extended keyboards and the key combinations wikipedia indicates don't produce Esperanto characters.

If there is a guide online someone could link me to, that'd also be great...

You are not the only OS X user.

Have you looked through the archives of this forum? This issue has been covered before for OS X.

I have never heard of using an Irish keyboard for this, so I can't comment on that. But some people on this forum have had good success with a US international keyboard.

Ah, I have had a look and one of the posts finally helped me understand where I was going wrong.

Thanks for sending me in the right direction rideto.gif
