I am sure that the Chinese government is not blocking Esperanto as an idea. There is a huge Esperanto community in China, and the Chinese government funds journalism in Esperanto. If the site has connection problems it is likely linked to something other than Chinese government politics.
^ This. China Radio International's Esperanto service is probably the best and most active Esperanto news site on the internet.

I figured it would be some other reason than Esperanto itself. Some of the ideas expressed on these forums are what I imagine the censors are aiming to block.

A communications disruption could mean only one thing...

Chinaflower, can you check and see if it works now? Our programmer has removed Facebook from the Chinese versions of the site, to see if the Facebook links are the problem.

Might lernu.net itself have gotten onto a blacklist somewhere?

Given the kinds of political opinions expressed on these forums, that would not seem altogether surprising.

I observe that the Chinese subforum has been quiet lately - last message April 29, including the Birdoj al Alta, which used to be updated daily.

Thanks! But it seems the problem remains the same as before...And most of time, using a Chinese local network, the connection is reset and cannot load the page as Google Chrome said...So there seems that I must vpn now...

I can offer you a network tracert from my local network...I am in Zhejiang Province of China...You can find the local network can solve the Ip address but webpage cannot be open most of time if there is not a vpn

I'm not sure if this particular issue got solved, but i've found the main issue with most sites not loading here in China is their reliance on some Google framework/API. On Lernu, for example, when loading every page, it gets stuck trying to load something from 'google.com'. If i wait a minute or two it'll eventually time out and load the rest of the page. I can get around this by using AdBlock Plus and blocking all connections to *.google.com and *.googleapis.com (though Lernu doesn't seem to use the second).
