It is not reasonable to expect that Esperanto could attract even a small fraction of the sponsors that a polyglot conference attracts.

Companies, organizations, and institutions that support tons of different languages might want to sponsor polyglot conferences - cultural associations for different languages, Goethe Insitut, Alliance Francaise, universities that teach languages, all kinds of things. None of these institutions would be even slightly interested in sponsoring Esperanto activities.

It is hard to get funding for Esperanto events. It's a small language with a small and dispersed user base. Even a conference on Icelandic could probably get some sponsorship from companies based in Iceland or people of Icelandic descent. We do not have such things in Esperanto, there are no companies based in Esperantujo, there are no people of "esperanto descent", and while there are clear financial benefits to speaking Spanish, French, German, etc etc, there is almost no financial benefit to speaking Esperanto.

Thanks, everyone. Ideally I won't be using any English while I'm there; I'm going for total immersion. I'm now booked and can't wait to go!
