Alkanadi:What operating system are you using right now?
Android 2.3.7 right at the second, but usually I use my laptop, which runs Windows XP. My oldest brother, who does internet browsing only on computers with Vista or newer, always tells me I'm going to get viruses that way... Why then does he get viruses so frequently, and I, as far as I know, haven't gotten a single one yet? lango.gif

Well, you are not only going to get viruses, you are going to spread viruses.

How do you know, you don't get viruses? Probably your computer is already spreading all kinds of viruses around the net without you being aware of it.

I'm using Linux Mint 17 Xfce. I'm also trying Gnome 3.

I like both.

I use the same setup I've been using since 2007: Debian GNU/Linux with Awesome WM as my UI. Se ĝi ne estas rompiĝinta, ne provu ĝin ripari ridulo.gif

I do not have my "personal" computer. It is shared for family, so I have to work on Windows.
Generally, as 'IT specialist' (high school at the moment) I prefer Linux from Debian family (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint etc.) and I like so much the Xfce, GNOME (2.x, I have never tested GNOME 3) and KDE GUI.
I'm also using Nokia Lumia (Windows 8.1) and it is a good one smartphone for me.

If I am spreading viruses , I haven't heard anything about it. I have heard people say that about Mac users, that they aren't affected by viruses, they only spread them. That's because all modern Windows computers are vaxxed, you know, so they are awfully susceptible to getting sick from the unvaxxed Macs and XP machines. Poor them!

[Please don't take above deranged babbling seriously; I'm not a troll, but my mischievous side does persist in showing itself occasionally! Please forgive me.]

But more seriously, everyone knows that viruses are caught by opening spam emails, downloading assorted junk, and frequenting sites that have .ru at the end. My brother does stuff like that; that's why he gets so many viruses; but I don't do that, so I don't. And of course, I always use Firefox no matter what the OS is.

And it doesn't matter anyway, because I can't afford to upgrade, so I'm stuck with what I've got regardless.

With Linux, "can't afford" would no longer be a term in your vocabulary ridulo.gif

I'm running Kubuntu "Kubby" 12.04. When 16.04 comes out I will upgrade, probably to the MATE desktop environment because I never quite forgave Unity.

You are describing only some ways to get infected. There are many others. Infected USB-sticks for example. You simply can not say "I don't do ..., so I don't get viruses." If you have used WindowsXP recently you should consider your machine infected. Probably it's spreading viruses, spam, participating in ddos attacks and maybe even nastier criminal activities. It's your responsibility to stop or tolerate that.

Maybe it's a good time to take a look at Linux.
