I saw this because it is being compared with Esperanto.

Alkanadi:"A pan-African language designed to help people overcome old rivalries and help countries where tribal divisions exist has been developed by a team in Kenya."The idea of a constructed auxiliary language is still as attractive today as it was in the late 19th century. While it would have been nice if they'd have considered Esperanto, I wish them best of luck ...

The main reasons auxlangs have not caught on at a large level, I think, have to do with authorities' vested interest in the status quo (e.g. France in the League of Nations), and emotional reactions from individuals who conflate the language's atypical origins with linguistic deficiency.

Tempodivalse:I think it would catch up in Africa as there are Swahili and English in the language, these two languages are common in Africa. But, how good they can be used in the other fields is a question here. For daily communication will be supported by the locals.Alkanadi:"A pan-African language designed to help people overcome old rivalries and help countries where tribal divisions exist has been developed by a team in Kenya."The idea of a constructed auxiliary language is still as attractive today as it was in the late 19th century. If the government, as you mentioned, comes in to support it, it will be hot overnight.
This has to depend on the Esperanto Movement Africa to convince the locals not to waste time to test the new language but go for Esperanto.
As again, I want to lament that they do not use the UNESCO resolution 1985 to convince the NGOs to respect UNESCO resolution, only then Esperanto can be burn like a fire in Africa region.

(Note that I am not saying this perception is correct, but simply that it may exist.)
(Also gosh what a thing to be my first post on this site's forum.)

Chove:I imagine Esperanto could be seen as "too imperialist" because of its European origin and the history of Europe's behaviours in Africa.I think this is correct. Africans don't seem to like European influence because of their history of colonization. I believe that a language based on Romance languages will not be received well.

se:Do you really believe that? In America, if the government told everyone to learn a given language, it would certainly get much, much less popular- even meet with violent resistance. Is my country really so different from every other country in that respect?

Also, this article appears to be a flat-out lie: Sheng is a cant or possibly creole developed completely naturally among urban youth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheng_slang
On a side note, I'm not sure why people think there is no African Esperanto movement. http://www.esperanto-afriko.org/
