Site Down Often

The site was down again this morning. It seems to be down a couple times per month. Just out of curiosity, what company is hosting the site?

Edit: I forgot I could look this up myself. The webhost is Joker.com.

Maybe, it would be better to use the McDonalds of webhosting; Godaddy or Hostgator. I hear that their servers are reliable.

I've only experienced two outages during the past month, which lasted just a few hours each. No site is going to have 100% uptime. If the website were down for days at a time, this might be a problem - but this doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm sure the admins have good reasons for choosing their current host, especially given the site's high traffic.

The reason for the current host is that we've been with them for years. The server is getting old and we are going to be moving to the cloud in the foreseeable future, partially due to these increasingly frequent server failures, we just haven't gotten around to making the change yet. Moving the site to a new server is a major production and our main programmers just had a baby so this is not really the very first thing on their priority list at the moment.

Oh, and joker.com is just the company that sold us the domain. It's not the host of the server. That's a server company in Germany but I have forgotten their name.

Hetzner. According to what I perceive of them here in Germany, they are quite good but not high end.
