With Esperanto, no one has to learn irregularities and obsolete features: people do not owe anything to Esperanto, it's Esperanto that has to comply with people, as no one is speaking in it.

Tangi:It cannot be applied to Esperanto: you have to deal with it in other languages, because there are people who speak it this way.No one speaks in Esperanto? I think I missed the memo

orthohawk:Yes, but those who now have been informed didn’t get the memo back then, when they were speaking esperanto; they didn’t know no one is speaking it...jean-luc:But we've been informed that no one is speaking it.........Tangi:the people who speak it I would guessjean-luc:And who buys the bread in it?Tempodivalse:I'm wondering who is writing the lessons...Tangi:no one is speaking in itI think I missed the memo

Tempodivalse:Good grief! You mean the Lernu people *still* won't have revamped their website?Of course not, since it would be against the "Fundamento de lernu.net" (which will be released in July 2017 — 130 years after the Fundamenta Gramatiko). People will advocate for change-proposals, but the Fundamentistoj will stay hard and prevent any modification so that lernu won't adopt the Zeitgeist of the the 22nd century.
EDIT: My 666th post — muhahahaha!
