I downloaded it and listened to it while cycling to work. The 'certain Erin' has rather an attractive voice.

One of the interesting bits (among many) was the idea of the long-time, hardcore of Esperantists who might be a bit wary of the language being pulled into the mainstream - even though that's the aim really. I was thinking about this previously and how other languages are really public property, even though they have experts. There are e.g. all levels of English and many different strands of usage and they're all right. There are no real curators of those languages in the same way Esperanto has its overseers.

I listened to it as well on my way to work. It was very interesting and very well handled by Chuck, Erin and Humphrey. I think they addressed a lot of the misconceptions and presented Esperanto in a very good light. If I was an ordinary person who had never heard of Esperanto, I think I would be impressed.

Apart from that character on the phone asking a question. Surely he was a made up caller to play devil's advocate?

I've had enough experiences to know that he was genuine. I say the show broadcast him to play Devil's Advocate.

He may have been the only caller they had, it's very few callers for a show that is nominally a call-in show. He sounded like a troll, but an authentic troll rather than a shill.
