richardhall:I've found that verduloj has really helped to keep me motivated in the few months since it launched. Looking forward to connecting with you!
Here's an early adopter here! Dankon al vi, riĉjo! ridulo.gif

Venkistido:I have to say I'm really enjoying it too. I keep dropping out of Esperanto circles because there isn't a lot happening that interests me, but Verduloj has kept my attention since I joined. I suppose an awful lot of what happens will depend on what we do with it. The creator has kindly done the spadework for us for which, sincere thanks!
At lot of stuff is still up in the air. For right now, it's about if we want different of more types of forums/subforums for different things.

Eventually, I can add things like Pages (like a Facebook page) and a Q&A section.

SPX:Makis:

Cool, thanks for the responses. I really do think it's a good idea. You designed the whole thing? Thanks for the hard work and the contribution to the Esperanto community.
Oh, no. The hardest work I did was take out the credit card, buy the software, and then send countless emails to the programmers when an error is found. okulumo.gif
Right now, I am still very much a beginner and just came back to the language after a good bit of time off, so I honestly can't even read the homepage. But hopefully with the help of the dictionary here I'll be able to decipher it and get signed up. And as my Esperanto skills grow, I'll be able to be a truly active member of the site.
So, you haven't gotten through the signup process yet? If you need help, send me a PM. That way you can get on there and start putting your lessons into practice. ridulo.gif

BTW, what I did to learn all these internet terms was to put them into anki (or memrise, if you like that better) and really worked on that. That way you can navigate the site with too many problems.

Oh, so you paid to have the site built? Well that's interesting. You don't have to give exact figures, but I assume that was pretty pricey.

I have not yet signed up yet. I see one sentence on there that I can't quite get the meaning of, for instance:

"Vi ja volas aniĝi al Verduloj, ĉu ne?"

The main word that's messing me up is "aniĝi." According to the dictionary here it means "to accede." So I'm not really getting the meaning of the question.

BTW, I have never heard of Anki or Memrise. What's that all about?

It was a prebuilt social networking software. So, not that much but certainly not too little. O_o

From Vortaro: "aniĝi. Iĝi ano de grupo: li ĵus aniĝis al nia klubo. ☞ aliĝi. (aniĝi. to become a member of a group: he just joined our club. ☞ aliĝi [to join])"

From ESPDIC: "aniĝi : to accede, affiliate, join"

So, "Vi ja volas aniĝi al Verduloj, ĉu ne?" is just my cheeky way of saying "You want to sign up, don't you?!"
BTW, I have never heard of Anki or Memrise. What's that all about?
Anki is a flashcard program that spaces out words based on how well you know them. Ekz. If you already know "saluton" you don't need to see it everyday. Every time you click "good" (I know it well) it'll make the space between when you see it again much longer, eventually make it years until you see it again.

Here's a deck I did awhile back that could be of use to you: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/293843977

This is one of the reasons why I wanted to create Verduloj: immersion. On twitter or facebook or other places, you are confined to Esperanto groups. So, you have to post something in a gigantic group of thousands of people, which can be intimidating.

Then when you start making friends and add them... they post in their national language all the time!
Makis,
It's a great explanation that cleared up for me why it is important to have only-Esperanto social network. Maybe it can be put in "About" section of the website.
I can add that when only-Esperanto social network grows, it may become interesting for non-Esperantists and will serve as a tool to recruit new Esperantists.

I have personally found that posting in Esperanto to my Facebook page has been a great advertisement for Esperanto to my non-Esperanto friends, and I have also been interested to see what my Esperanto friends are posting in their own languages. Sometimes I run Google Translate over the articles they post to see what they said.

I have a friend who doesn't speak Esperanto but she "likes" everything I post in Esperanto. It's her thing, it's kind of fun.

makis:The "beta testers" thread has been going for awhile. I don't think it can be called beta anymore. So, here's the scoop:

Verduloj.com is a social network like facebook and twitter. It is new and the membership is small but it grows everyday.

If you ever wanted an all Esperantist membership with status messages, a forum, a (private) instant messenger, event list, and, eventually, groups, "pages" and a Q&A section, maybe you would like it.

So, check it out if you are interested: verduloj.com
When I log in, there is a notation that "x vidoj" of your profile have occurred. Is there no way to click somewhere to find the identity of these vidintoj? If not, why bother having the notation? Just sayin'.

Alas! The more active the site gets, the harder it is for me to keep up with reading every single thing that gets posted lango.gif!

It's really just a hit counter for your profile. I guess for one to know how popular their profile is if someone is into that sort of thing. ridulo.gif

ETA: No, you can't see who viewed it. Just the number.
