I have a small question about "ŭ": If it's forbidden to use "ŭ" as the first letter in a syllable, how is "ŭo" a permitted word? I think, it's the only exception. ridego.gif

I have definitely seen ŭaŭ been used.

It's the name of the letter.

There is also Uxato, sometimes seen, and even more rarely Uxasxingtono. Uxa, uxa is the cry of the little child.

sudanglo:Temp, could find no instances of 'Vaŭ'. If you don't like the initial 'ŭ', you could use Uaŭ!
My error, I should have checked for a more serious precedent. I was basing my comment on informal usage (e.g. chat rooms and casual spoken conversation). Or I might have been mishearing the ux as a v.

I kind of like vaux, though, come to think of it ... I've used it a few times, there didn't seem to be any confusion what I meant.

Obviously, .ue is surprise, .ua is "aha! I get it!", .u'e is "wow!" expressing awe or wonder... Oops! Wrong language! lango.gif

Altebrilas:Why "ŭ" is forbidden in first position?
Because it is explicitly formulated in the Fundamento,...
I searched, but did not found. In which part of it, exactly?

In the “Grammar”, part A “The Alphabet”

Fundamento:Ŭ ŭ, u as in “mount” (used in diphtongs) | ŭ ― wie das kurze u in glauben (wird nur nach einem Vokal gebraucht) | буква ŭ (которая употребляется только послѣ гласной)

It is given as an example of pronounciation, not as something mandatory or forbidden...
