I'm about 2/3 of the way through the tree and wondering about other's thoughts/experiences. Has anyone done Duolingo and then come to Lernu to either start of pick up where they left off? Where would someone who has completed Duolingo fit in Lernu lessons?

I ask partly out of curiosity and partly because once I've finished the Duolingo tree I'd like to continue with Lernu and wondering what to expect. (BTW, I completed Anna Pana and other basic courses and started Anna Renkontas but only did one lesson).

I know I'd probably be better asking this in the Esperanto forum, but I'm not confident there yet and, while I am definitely progressing, translation is still hard work and lots of referencing vortaroj.

I seem to have stalled with Duolingo. It can get a bit frustrating when a typo makes you wrong or when you just misread something. Sometimes I just can't be bothered doing so many questions per level/unit. But I'm trying to get back into it.

I started learning Esperanto years ago, using mostly this website and a library book, but I didn't get all that far. (I have language wanderlust.) For the last two years or so I've been focusing exclusively on French (the longest I've ever managed to focus on a language! Yay me!), and have resisted the tempatation of Esperanto.

However, a few days ago, I noticed the Esperanto beta course on Duolingo, and decided to treat myself. In the last five days I've completed 15 out of the 44 skills in tree, and I LOVE it! I've never found Esperanto so easy. The mix of reading, writing, and listening is wonderful.

So, I guess that's not really answering your question, since I haven't used this website since long before starting the Duolingo course. But I do hope to return to the courses here after finishing Duolingo. I'm confident that the courses here will be a lot easier then than they were last time I tried. I already understand when to use the -n ending way better than I ever have before.

I'm curious as to what kind of answers you are looking for, since you are already successfully using both. I'm doing the same thing, but I'm not as far along as you are (I hope to finish Ana Pana this week). Duolingo is helping me get down a vocabulary and get used to the grammar, but translating isolated sentences started to feel a bit sterile after a while. I feel like the correspondence courses are helping me take the logical next steps of practicing reading and expressing myself without trying to jump straight into an Esperanto forum.

Looking for anyone who may have completed Duolingo and dived into Lernu again. I haven't really done anything here except this forum. Although interested to hear all opinions of course.

I am about half way done. I think I will be done in a few more months.

I have been studying Esperanto for just over 1 year with Lernu. I would say that Duolingo is better for learning and Lernu is better for practising.

I am very grateful for Duolingo because I felt like I was hitting a plateau with my learning. I felt like I was stuck just under the intermediate level. Duolingo really helps my confidence and it is fun. I feel like I am now breaking through the barrier to the intermediate level.
