I know what you're talking about. And I'm glad that such people can find their place in the movement but it isn't just that. It's about finding the right crowd, I know avid Esperantist beer drinkers in both the US and the UK. I spent a week teaching a class for the British summer course and it had a mini private pub in the basement, that we were able to get the key for. Great fun, great conversation, a great group, and not a Tolkien fan as far as the eye could see.

Sfinkso:You missed an important option. "What local Esperanto Club?"
Ĝuste!

The debate about UKs is very interesting. It's too bad that it's in english and with a title that does not match the topic.

FractalBloom:The Utah group UTELO has a webpage and references to it all over the place, but as far as I can tell it is defunct. Disappointing given that back in 2001 the USA kongreso was held at my university. Trying to start a new Salt Lake City group but as of yet I have encountered 0 esperantists here.
Mi loĝas en Utah.

We don't have a particular club as such. But few Esperanto speakers meet every month, It often ranges from 2 to 10 (or more) Esperantists.
