rikforto:For example, he privately wrote about how he wanted to get rid of Christianity, but promoted Protestantism because it helped maintain his popularity.
rikforto:
Hitler, 23 March 1933:The Government, being resolved to undertake the political and moral purification of our public life, are creating and securing the conditions necessary for a really profound revival of religious life.... The National Government regard the two Christian Confessions as the weightiest factors for the maintenance of our nationality. They will respect the agreements concluded between them and the federal States. Their rights are not to be infringed.... It will be the Government's care to maintain honest co-operation between Church and State; the struggle against materialistic views and for a real national community is just as much in the interest of the German nation as in that of the welfare of our Christian faith. The Government of the Reich, who regard Christianity as the unshakable foundation of the morals and moral code of the nation, attach the greatest value to friendly relations with the Holy See and are endeavouring to develop them.
This is completely in line with the narrative I've put forward.
No it is absolutely not in line with the narrative when you write that Hitler wanted to get rid off Christianity and secure his popularity by promoting Protestantism. These are blatant lies.

But let's it leave at that because I don't think that anything meaningful will emerge from this little discussion anyway.

I'll decide when I'm done, but thank you for the suggestion.

I have said he publicly supported Christianity, and especially Protestantism. I didn't say he that he didn't support Catholicism at any point. I will take this moment to say that the relationship was troubled, but yes, they maintained official relations with The Vatican.

None of this establishes that I "lie" when I say he spoke differently in private. All it does is establish I'm correct to assert he held these views publicly.

Sunjo:A friend of mine told me that her grandmother (in Germany) was forced to learn Esperanto in school because Hitler wanted it.
Interesting. Why did Hitler write negatively about Esperanto in his book?
I very much doubt this since Esperanto was banned in 1935 in Germany with the members of the German Esperanto organisations being sent to concentration camps.

Because a universal/international language written explicitly to facilitate world peace was the antithesis of his own beliefs. Add to that origins the founder of the language was Jewish and lived in Poland/Russian Empire, people he viewed as inferior and enemies of western civilisation. The Nazi's also denounced and attacked `Jewish science` and wasted time trying to construct a purer more German scientific theory, for similar reasons.

Then let's go a little bit deeper into the matter:

1)
Is there any particular reason why you are so far avoiding to go into your strongest claim that Hitler wanted to get rid off Christianity? May I ask you for any evidence that proves your claim? We well know what the Soviets did. Such a task is huge and surely must be well documented.
According to Wikipedia 95% of the german population was Christian in 1950. How come they supported Hitler that much although he supposedly wanted to get rid off Christianity? Obviously his supposed plan didn't work at all. Why? What went wrong?

If the relationship with the church was troubled as you suggest, why was Hitler never excommunicated - especially in light of his plan about getting rid off Christianity? Why didn't he secede from the church?
Why was the term "Third Reich" used which has an old christian-theological meaning?

2)
Please prove your claim that Hitler promoted in particular Protestantism. Please also prove that he used Protestantism in order to secure his popularity. Why did he need to do this in the first place? Was he losing popularity? Please provide some information on this.
How did the supposed promotion of Protestantism work with his supposed plan to get rid off Christianity?

I am looking forward to your reply.

I suggest the book reading "La danĝera lingvo" by Ulrich Linz. There you'll find good information about the theme. The great problem of Esperanto is that it never have had great friends but only great enemies.

Compare the fraught relationship with the Catholic Church to the active attempts to co-opt Protestantism.

Vestitor:Cease this backstory of heroes leaving Europe for the magic colony, it's not true.
Your admonition runs contrary to the truth contained in the old joke that the Americans couldn’t build the A-bomb themselves: the Europeans had to come and show them how to do itridulo.gif

Aye, I forgot about that episode. Masochists we are.

Well I see you are not able to provide any serious facts but keep on pointing to Wikipedia from which you obviously you construct your wild stories. Given the fact that you don't even try to answer my questions, there is no reason to waste my time with this nonsense any longer.

Indeed, nearly every Dictatorship in the world has tried to clamp down on Esperanto, for a surprisingly diverse number of reasons.

Still Fidel seems to be on side
