Recently started learning Esperanto, starting with Duolingo. Was just curious if there were many active Esperantists near me?

Where are you? There are quite a few in Phoenix. Also, I have a monthly meetup in the Albuquerque/Las Cruces/El Paso area:

I live just north of Austin, Texas and there is an active group of 10+ who meet every few weeks on Saturdays to speak/learn Esperanto.

Oklahoma. Phoenix is a bit far from me. I could probably be at a meeting in Albuquerque though, its about a day's drive. I haven't been to New Mexico in a long time, and it was my favorite state to visit, I wouldn't mind a reason to be there again ridulo.gif

Austin is also about a day's drive for me. 10+ is a decent enough size. How long have you guys been speaking it?

I have been a member here for 11 years, I cannot speak for the others but some have been speaking for several years and others for a shorter time and there is at least 1 or 2 who, within the past few months started learning.

Look for a user on here named: Makis, he is the organizer of the meetings and he owns/operated the website: www.verduloj.com

I suggest doing a search of lernu users for active users ("low" activity level and up) who indicated Oklahoma as their location. Search for major cities near you and also oklahoma and oklahomo.

You should also contact Polaris, a lernu user who lives in Oklahoma. His profile says he lives in Pauls Valley. I have no idea whether that's near you but I'm sure you can map it and find out.

Good luck!
