I base this on the the stats that out of 200,000 users, in the last 30 days only 5000 have been active to any degree (probably indicates a range from a single login all the way to daily logins). The stat that there are about 5000 logins a week seems reasonable in light of the above.
One thing I have noticed in doing a search of Esperantists in my state, is that it seems the majority of registered users have only logged in to the sight a few times- i.e. registration date might be 2012-8-1 and last login was either the same day or a few days later. Non-inactive users (may not be very active, but are still occasionally visiting the site) are indicated by a big gap between registration date and last login. Even if the last login was months ago, and the registration date was years ago, I suspect that these are users who hit the site as their interest in Esperanto waxes and wanes. One user I spoke to said he goes on an Esperanto kick about every 6-12 months for 2-3 months until something else catches his attention, and so I think that many of the users who are not regular but who are not completely inactive since their registration fall into that general catagory.
No point to all this really, just thought it interesting to note.

jdawdy:Maybe someone who has experience with website statistics can give a better idea of the site's usage, but it seems to me from looking at the statistics page that only about 2.5% of all registered users are active (at least in any given period).I did some data mining and number crunching for the year 2014 here.

jdawdy:What I would like to see is how many of those 200,000+ users were last active less than 90 days after registration. I wonder if there is any way to purge any account that was last active, say, no later than a year after registration. e.g. in searching for other Iowans, I ran across situations where someone registered on, say, Aug 15, 2006 and then never logged in again, or else the last log in was only a month or two later. These types of accounts need to be purged; they're obviously not being used and counting them as "users" is kind of disingenuous.

Bluemountain:I always read the forum. I rarely log in though.Any specific reason for that? When I logged in my first time after registration I clicked the "remember me" button, so thereafter whenever I click on my bookmark for Lernu, login is automatic.
