Fenris_kcf:Having a well programmed website suffices. Why turning it into an app?
A programmed website is good indeed but the design of the site is a bit outdated. I'm trying to make the forums more accessible to the wave of new Esperantist, right now there seems to be no central website where esperantist can gather and speak to another.
Aren't you on one of those websites right now? This seems a little bit like turning up at the local Esperanto club and announcing the formation of a local Esperanto club to 'fill the gap'!

Well it's more like showing up at the local club and saying "Hey, this place is a bit messy and cluttered, let's clean it up to make it a nicer place for everyone"

The app is not replacing the forum, just overlaying a User Interface over the old one. One that is more user friendly for the phone.

Perhaps you might first find out how many people use Lernu on a phone? I don't, though perhaps others do.

The site is indeed a bit 2005, but it's pretty clear and it works. I'm not a big fan of phone-like interfaces. The day Ubuntu turned its desktop into an app-like interface, I jumped ship.

I think you're on the right track...it has a clean look and a pleasant font. I think it could use a more visible separation between posts, either with some kind of background shading or just plain old lines.
I'm not a huge fan of the shade of green you've chosen, and in particular the gray "hamburger/menu" icon on the right doesn't stand out enough. But one could argue about colors (and fonts) forever.

It's an important fact, though, that more and more people are doing almost everything on their phones. I'm not one of them, but I think accommodating those people will only help the language grow.
In theory, one could offer a choice of interfaces to the site, so the one you prefer doesn't have to go away.

Great idea and if you get a chance, I would like there to be an option were it shows me the last post that I read on a thread. I want to see if I read the thread. And, what posts I have read within the thread.

While I appreciate what Mysystemlater has attempted, I think Lernu.net really should do some work on the site to make it more mobile friendly. Glancing through the page source, by just adding a viewport meta tag, you could improve the mobile experience with just one line...

Then use media queries like @media to put div elements in the side bar, someplace else. Thus giving the main area 100% of the screen width. This of course will not effect the look of the desktop site a single bit.

In which country?

It's obvious, I suppose, that if you have an internet access device in your pocket you would end up using that more often. I don't, however, believe that people use a phone and a computer in the same way.
