sudanglo:I have a vague memory of there being all sorts of scholarships at the Oxford Colleges, with often bizarre qualifications for getting the scholarship - like for example being the son of a Welsh vicar.

I imagine that anybody who has the money can endow a scholarship and specify who may get it.

See this for the Buchanan bequest to Liverpool University.
Thanks for this. I stand corrected in this case. After reading the site I'm considering attending the 2016 John Buchanan Masterclass in Liverpool and then the British congress follows immediately afterwards in the same place.

You can try Chinese universities, they have tons of money for foreigners to do the course especially one is the white skin and from USA.

erinja:In fact, if you tell a university linguistics department that you want to study it, they will probably laugh at you.
People who get a basketball scholarship don't study basketball. They study other subjects.

I was wondering if they had a scholarship for Esperantists who wish to become educated in an established field.

Something similar to the Esperanto grant at the University of Liverpool.

MrMosier:
The other problem is finding a PhD in Linguistics or some other language (or language related discipline) who also speaks Esperanto WITH some kind of certification...

Alkanadi:Is there such thing as an Esperanto scholarship.
No. Scholarships are only given for study in established subjects for which there are already university departments and professors. In which subject did you major?

This is the only thing I could find. I am happy to see something like this.

I am hoping to a find something larger. I will be studying at the master's level with any luck. An assistantship would be awesome.

Thanks to everyone for the tips and advice.

I wasn't talking about basketball. I was talking about academic subjects like Mathematics, Biology or national languages. I know of no scholarships for post-graduates in Esperanto, but please tell us if you find one in China.

For now, I would say that if, in the subject in which you majored at university, you did not do well enough to win a scholarship to pursue post-graduate study (or are not interested enough to try it), perhaps you should keep the job you have, and consider yourself lucky if it's reasonably well paid!
