For all of these reasons, it's easier just to go with "Jozefo", when it's an international name. The pope is internationalized by having the local variant of his name in each language, so it doesn't seem unreasonable to use this same custom in Esperanto stories, unless you want to strongly localize the story with names that are local to a place.

I didn't bother to check on how Joseph is rendered in the Esperanto version of the Bible. It is indeed Jozefo.

However there are 17 hits in the Tekstaro for Josefo.

By the way, is Kirilo right when he says that Esperantisation tends to follow the spelling rather than the pronunciation.

On malhela versus malluma:

A dark alley is 'malluma strateto'. A dark skin is 'malhela haŭto'.

So are the clouds mallumaj or malhelaj?

PS has anybody else noticed that there is a bug in the message posting at Lernu. Quite often, I have found that the whole message is wiped on Preview. I think it may depend on whether you leave spaces at the end of your post.

There are many a bug at Lernu - I've experienced your issue a few times, and then there is the thing where normal punctuation results in various smiley faces, forcing you to put spaces like " ). The site revamp will be much welcomed, I'm sure.

I think that if you take too long to type your message it does that. I will put some spaces at the end of this post to check. If you are reading this then it isn't the spaces.

A helpful hint if you write a long forum message - highlight and copy the whole thing before clicking "send". If you find the system has timed out, you can just paste it and send it.

I finally got around to checking my picture dictionary on cars. It recommends "limuzino" for sedan (it's actually any closed automobile, i.e. not a convertible/cabriolet, so a hatchback would also qualify).

Valizujo is an alternate word for a car's trunk.
