I had a dream that I was at an Esperanto meeting and I was trying to listen to people speaking Esperanto.

Do you dream in Esperanto?

Dreams tend to have some relation (even if remote) to one's preoccupations of the day, so if you had been thinking a lot about Esperanto, it might happen.

I can't recall it recently happening to me.

Sorry, not yet.

There is a difference whether Esperanto in the dream is an object - e.g. you dream to go to a meeting where E-o is spoken, but the overall dream is in English - or whether you really dream in Esperanto independently of the contents.
The first case happened to me, too, the second one never (in any foreign language).

I have dreamed in Spanish. I've had the occasionnal switch to English in an otherwise French conversation in a dream. I don't think I have ever dreamed in Esperanto.

Might be correlated to how often I think in these languages (which in Esperanto's case is pretty rare).

I have dreamed that I was speaking Esperanto. Except that when I woke up I realized it was complete gibberish that bore no resemblance to real Esperanto at all. But in the dream... totally Esperanto.

The weird thing is, this was long after I started learning Esperanto. You'd think my dream self would have recognized that what I was saying wasn't Esperanto at all, since I knew real Esperanto at that point. But nope.

Esperanto sometimes shows up in my dreams, though mostly as a cameo.

I've had people tell me that I talk Russian in my sleep - not sure about EO.

I have one clear memory of a dream in which I spoke Esperanto, and when I woke up I could remember what I said and confirm that it was indeed grammatical. Often I dream that other people are speaking Esperanto (though I don't recall any that I could say for sure, at this point, whether they were gibberish or not), usually, interestingly enough, they're the people who in real life oppose it the most (like my mom). Wishful thinking in my subconscious, perhaps? And pretty much all the dreams that I can recall had something to do with Esperanto in some way or another, though usually something weird and abstract. But then, what about my dreams isn't weird and abstract? ridulo.gif
