se:Bad leadership will led Esperantujo to no where.
Is there any leadership? It is a language, not a political party. It is like saying that bad leadership of English will get us nowhere.

Make some Youtube videos to express your opinions. It will go a long way.

Please think creatively. There is no esperantujo too. But there is a Universala Esperanto-Asocio.

Can you find a Unversal English language Association ? You can find the International TESOL Association which is similarly to ILEI.

Of course you do not find the small language like Icelandic Language Association too on earth.

Just do not know why you are so obsessed to youtube video. Do you know many Indonesians are using mobile phones to go online ? How can they make a youtube video ? Can't they read online ?If the blind esperantists want to know they can also use the reading programmes.

Certainly, your suggestion is good but impractical. I am for one do not go for youtube all the time as internet surfing in my country is very costly. I can only afford to buy 300 mb of internet surfing volumn whenever I need to do so.

Do get to know on the earth, it is not all people are as fortunate as Americans. Many still cannot afford to go to schools. If there are companies using Esperanto, eventhough they don't go to schools, within 200 hours of learning Esperanto, they can be a staff in the company.

robbkvasnak:One mistake that most non-Americans make is to assume that all of us in the USA are wealthy. I certainly am not. I make $14,000 a year right now.
Due to overpopulation, most of the world lives on a dollar or two per day. That means that if you have 30 dollars in your pocket right now, you could provide for one person for an entire month.

I have enough money in my pocket to pay their expenses for an entire year.

Imagine if there was a society where it was normal to carry about $14,000 dollars (what you make per year) as pocket change. Would you think they were rich?

That is why they think we are all rich.
They may think it, but it's not entirely true. It matters what the cost of living is compared to what you earn. 14,000 a year (£9,800 or €12,800) is only suitable for a fairly basic life in a western country. There are people even worse off, but both positions usually mean it's impossible to save money or have reserve funds.

A friend of mine who immigrated illegally from Ethiopia (he's still going through the long process) said that people from his rural part Ethiopia think the same thing, but he was shocked at the costs you can't escape which drain away your funds. When he was first here he had an 'allowance' per month that was less than what a rich kid would get per week. Which is why he slept in a homeless hostel and ate mostly at a soup kitchen. He said that this lifestyle was easier to manage on a low income than when he eventually moved into a flat. The compulsory costs of a 'normal' life in the west empties the pockets of people with low incomes.
I don't feel guilt-tripped by knowing that people live on a fraction of what I earn per day because I know much of the fault lies with corrupt politico-economic imbalances that I didn't cause and already oppose. One group of low-earners supporting another group of low earners leaves us poor and keeps the rest of the tax-dodgers and pocket-fillers rich.

Actually it is very much like how a political party (or any like organisation) works in that it is not specifically linked to any country or culture. It has no acceptance unless people are persuaded to accept it or gravitate toward the official body when they choose to do so.

If it wasn't so, why on earth would the UEA have a five-year plan and run country representatives who are to promote the language? English is in a very different position.

Naturally, if I were (able) to go and live in another country with a lower exchange rate, I could "have more money" - but just compare: First, they take $1800 from that automatically for Medicare. I live in a house for which I pay $1,500 in taxes a year. I need to drive a car here because the closest store is 4 km away and any job that I want REQUIRES that I have a car (they put that in the help wanted ads - without a car, no job) and I pay $270 a month in car insurance (that's the law) - and there are no busses here. I need to pay medical bills and buy food and use electricity (our electric bill here is around $200 a month). Life here is more expensive than elesewhere. I also have to pay water ($100 a month) and sewage and trash pickup (those are not a choice - you have to pay for them even if you wouldn't use them, here).

spreecamper:se, will you participate at trilanda kongreso in Bandung/Indonesia? Would be interesting to hear your opinion about afterwards.
Kara, no, I am not participating in Tri-landa kongreso. It is not cheap to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Bandung just as not everyone in EU can go from the south to the north. But I help them to promote the kongreso.

Though I reminded them several times to invite the local scout group to help out as usher, helper etc. I do not know they listen to the suggestion. But the UK in Nitra yes, they invited the Esperanto scout to help out. They should invite the local scout group but not the Esperanto scout. The cost of the local scout is normally born by scouts. As in Malaysia, the organiser provides them with food and lodging, they can camp near the event venue.

I do not know the NASK in USA does it but this is the opportunity to work hand in hand with other organisation. I read somewhere that Esperanto scout wast kicked out by American Scout in the 60s from world scout org, their site also includes Esperanto as the translator now. This has to be confirmed by those seniors and most of them have passed away.

Conduct the Esperanto for the local scouts. Many world event, scout and girl guide were there to welcome the world leaders.

I wish KAEST would invite the local scout to help out. Plan ahead, have meetings with sponsors too. That is the reason I agreed to join the boycott Universala Kongreso action.

UEA misunderstand the language is not only inter nations, but also inter racial,

Can the UK interest more than 260k people to learn Esperanto like Duolingo ? They have to get out of the old comfort zone and venture into a more challenging one, This would be how to sustain the learners to use Esperanto, creating jobs for them is the best way.

I have an idea for you. Can you make youtube videos in Esperanto to explain your ideas?
We just launched the podcast movada-vid.punkto, in which we want to make big Esperanto events, mostly UK more visible to Esperantujo and also cover the debate on what UK and other Esperanto events should be like.

Maybe some UK critic is willing to be our interview guest on how to do things better. Fluency in Esperanto is a requirement, though, and you should offer a bit more than just anger towards UEA.
