Greetings all,

Have any of you kept a list of links to notable threads on this forum; threads you feel are useful to keep on hand for either reference or for referring to others to them?

If so, would you please post them here? There's a ton (and I mean a ton) of threads on this forum, and though I'd love to eventually review all of them, it would be really helpful to get a jump start with posts you folks have kept.

Thanks much,

Starkman

I haven't done that, however, you can search google by typing the following:

site:http://en.lernu.net/komunikado/forumo [search term]

Thanks, Alkanadi, but I wasn't thinking of any particular search term in mind, just links in general that people have found important or useful for some given purpose.

Thanks though,

Keith

I wonder if there is a way to search all the threads and then sort the results according to the quantity of messages, thereby indicating the topics that people feel the most passionate about.

I think this would require some python scraping. Or is there a better way?

Check this out:

This is a list of the most liked Reddit posts. I guess Esperantists are very excited about Duolingo.

We (excluding me) should try to get an Esperanto version of Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur also. I already sent them an email a year ago suggesting the idea.

This has already been discussed here http://en.lernu.net/komunikado/forumo/temo.php?t=4.... Rosetta Stone is a complete waste of money. I think it is one of the reasons why many people fail to learn foreign languages. Duolingo and lernu's free courses are probably much better.

I do like the Pimsleur method, but their products are very expensive. I wouldn't pay several hundred dollars for an Esperanto course.

You know, I have tried and tried to figure out how to navigate Reddit, and I just can't figure it out. I gave up trying to get anything from that site.

You can create your own Pimsleur-esque program with Gradint

I don't know why people hate Rosetta Stone. I found it to be very useful, although they really should include translations.

I think people are just angry over the price and therefore they look at the product negatively. I bet if Rosetta Stone was free everyone would be raving about how wonderful it is.

Just like people would be calling Duolingo crappy if they charged 5 hundred dollars for it.

Because it's snake oil.

In any case, Rosetta Stone for Esperanto doesn't make much sense. The language is simple enough that expending a bit of effort on a few real lessons will pay back 10 fold over anything you might acheive via Rosetta Stone's lame methodology.
