This scares me. I hope we never again end up under a government that censors and controls information like this. This is a akin to book burning (Example: Catcher and the Rye).

There may be an argument to be made that information gathering and use, and censorship of it, has gained ground since the rise of the internet and associated technology. It may not be overt (too unsophisticated for today's 'democracies' ), but it is there.
There are several companies which openly sell hacking technology to governments.
