I’ve compiled a list of words that I have noticed missing from the Esperanto Wiktionary (Vikivortaro), which I have posted here.

What's the point of compiling a list of missing words for a wiki? In the case of Vikivortaro, you can simply add words that are missing.

Believe it or not, not everyone necessarily wants to become a wikipedian. In any case, opportunity cost is always to be borne in mind: time spent doing one thing means time not spent doing another thing. The time I would spend on Wiktionary I would rather spend on other things. Furthermore, there is the principle of separation of functions. Just as ownership and control are separated in (sophisticated) corporations, so also the function of finding problems and fixing problems are separated in (sophisticated) development enterprises (as in software houses, where testing and debugging are done by separate groups.

OK, Mr. Sophisticated. okulumo.gif Why did you compile this list? Does it help you in some way? Do you use it for something? Do you have plans for it?

Thank you for the list of errors, which I have mostly corrected. (For the perplexed: we are mostly talking here about corrections to eo.wiktionary.org/wiki/Vortaro_angla-Esperanta which is a complementary dictionary to its "parent" at eo.wiktionary.org/wiki/%C4%88efpa%C4%9Do )

However I have left in "prestaĵo" under "benefit" (i.e. periodic support payment) as it is in current use although it seems mainly by French-speaking Esperantists, so I guess it's a neologism derived from 'prestation'.

As for the "mankoj", I have made a copy of the list for review. I'm inclined not to include words I've never seen or heard like names of obscure dinosaurs for which there probably has only ever been a Latin name. But there are also some familiar ones in your list, and I will get around to adding them. But take note everyone: the Wiktionaries are open to anyone to contribute: no need to wait, jump in.

I am developing an Esperanto-based encyclopedic dictionary of English, and take note of words missing from various sources as I go. I don’t want to be the one to decide what their translations should be.

I have updated the list, which is again available here.

mkj1887 (Vise profilen) 25. jul. 2016 02.15.35

I have updated the list again (24.Jul.2016), in the following 2 ways:

1. I have split the list into 2 lists: a list of errors, and a list of omissions.

2. The lists are no longer pdf documents, but are on separate pages of my website.

So:

The error list is here:

http://enciklopedia-vortaro-de-la-merk-angla.weebl...

and the omissions list is here:

http://enciklopedia-vortaro-de-la-merk-angla.weebl...

fyi.

Thank you for the updated lists (we are talking about https://eo.wiktionary.org/wiki/Vortaro_angla-Esper... )

I have added the missing words to the list I am working through. I will gradually enter the ones I recognise into Vikivortaro. As for the others, anyone at any time can add to the Wiktionaries.

Regarding the 'eraroj', I have corrected almost everything, with these exceptions ...
preseraro: estas memevidenta preseraro je “somber”
I can't see the error. Do you mean one of the two spellings, 'somber' (American standard) and 'sombre' (British standard)?
-
eraro: je “compatible” ceestas “kongrui” kaj “akordi”.
The i-forms are shorthand for kongru-is-as-os, akordis-as-os
-
eraro: je “responsible” ne ceestu “respondeci”
I don't agree.
-
eraro: je “enough” trovigas “sufici” kaj “sati”
As with 'compatible', 'suficxi' is short for 'sufiĉ-is-as-os' and 'sati' for 'satis' (had enough).

[[somber] aŭ sombre - sombra

There are 2 left-brackets, but only 1 right-bracket
