Alkanadi:Lernu is the most tolerant forum I have ever seen. But that is not the issue. Let's stick to the issue instead of moving the goal post.Okay, then:
Deleting ThreadsWell, I assume that especially for beginners its hard to see its Esperanto posts deleted. I don't know if further Lernu!-20XX could serve this. But it would take out 'fire' not delete whole regarding thread. Its also not fair to sink posts of other users this way. Instead of the regarding parts of thread should be set unvisible to other users (some notification will send out to affected user). The affected user should get chance to change regarding parts and let it prove again for further 'visibility' inside the thread. Without changing regarding parts the post will stay unvisible forever. What about this?
Alkanadi:The issue is regarding discrepancy. There is a huge discrepancy when it comes to deciding what is allowed and what isn't.Then make new proposal for Lernu!'s term of use based of your sufferings at Lernu!-forum for community discussion at Esperanto forum section.

Alkanadi:Others? I think you mean 'you'. I just say what I see. If someone behaves like a complete twit, it's hard to address them in any other way. In any case it's rather rich coming from someone who slaps a blanket stereotype on an entire group.
I don't know who you are referring. I would never slander anyone. Vestitor is the only one on the forum who is calling others names. Everyone else seems relatively mature.

Vestitor:... slaps a blanket stereotype on an entire group.I wouldn't demonize stereotypes because stereotypes could bring emotions into discussion. But this stereotypes should be touchable/'vulnerable' to discuss. Everlasting boiling of emotions should not be the aim. Negotiated or enforced distance between hotspur should be possible option. How to realize that inside some forum? Well, take some thread and set both hotspur on 'you are temporary not capable to post inside this thread. That doesn't matter other threads'. Thats same red line strategy like (German) riot police applies to distinct counteracting demonstrations. 'Make distance, keep and accept distance if you can not be friends'.

This is not a matter of 'freedom of speech' being suppressed. That's a common cry thrown up. Some things are not constructive or they are just nonsense to anyone with an iota of common sense, but the assumption is that you have to listen to blockhead opinions for the sake of 'democracy'. Unfortunately some people's opinions are just plain erroneous and not worth listening to.
The two things to bear in mind are this: firstly that deleted thread added nothing to the sum total of useful discussion and was really just a cheap prejudice masquerading as 'theory'. Secondly, it was outside the remit of this forum. Those two things taken together made the guillotine fall and rightly so.

Alkanadi:Regardless of who made them, I was referring to the series of fatuous statements that appeared earlier in the thread about censorship, social engineering, denial of viewpoints and arbitrary rule at lernu.net. An absurd calumny, made in petulant defiance of what was in all truth a perfectly reasonable bit of forum administration....slandering the admins...I don't know who you are referring.
Also, it's pointless now dressing all this nonsense up as a legitimate inquiry. The "huge discrepancy" you refer to is just your own invention - something your ego came up with in reaction to seeing your contributions to a useless thread flushed down the toilet. There is no serious issue here that warrants any public discussion.

tommjames:...about censorship, social engineering, denial of viewpoints and arbitrary rule at lernu.net.Slander is an attack on someone's character. I would never attack the character of anyone. All of the statements were about their behaviour.
These are just a few of the attacks on my character:
- Beyond help
- Jackass
- Bigot
The "huge discrepancy" you refer to is just your own invention...This is something that I have noticed long before the thread was deleted.
Statement 1: A certain color has a cultural association.
Result: Deletion of a thread.
Statement 2: People in Hong Kong have high IQs (backup up with statistics).
Result: A verbal warning from an Admin.
Statement 3: Gypsies don't brush their teeth properly.
Result: No action at all.
Do you see the discrepancy?

Alkanadi:Statement 3:...Where was this statement, exactly?
Alkanadi (Arată profil) 13 iunie 2016, 07:57:17
Miland:I also made the comment that some Bengalis (I mean people living in Bengladesh) don't brush their teeth properly. No action was taken for my statement either. Not even a warning from the admins.Alkanadi:Statement 3:...Where was this statement, exactly?
It is near the bottom.

They are enforcing the rules based on emotions. It is subjective. If something triggers an emotion then they will act on it. This is the problem with censorship, it is so hard to determine what is aloud and what isn't. It creates so much grey area that the rules become arbitrary.

Alkanadi:Slander is an attack on someone's character. I would never attack the character of anyone. All of the statements were about their behaviour. This will cut no mustard with anyone armed with a dictionary, or indeed an iota of common sense.
Alkanadi:They are enforcing the rules based on emotions. It is subjective. This has not been my experience at all, and I've been around the lernu forums for close to 10 years. The couple of examples you have gone out of your way to dig up reveal nothing of any significance, except, perhaps, a predilection for trivial conduct on your part. My suggestion would be to channel your energy into something more worthwhile - I do not see that this line of discussion is productive at all.

tommjames:This will cut no mustard with anyone armed with a dictionary..."Under common law, to constitute defamation, a claim must generally be false and have been made to someone other than the person defamed. Some common law jurisdictions also distinguish between spoken defamation, called slander..."
