Hello, I am a beginner. I am taking the mail in postal course and have completed the first two lessons. I am trying to translate a simple phrase that I use often and need a little help.

I normally say to people: Hi, how are you? What are you doing?

I understand the "Hi, how are you" and dont need help there. I am having trouble with the "What are you doing".

My attempt is: Kio aro vi ?

Can someone help a beginner please?

Dankon,

Corta

Kion vi faras?

to do = fari
Kion takes the -n because it is the object of the sentence (and vi is the subject).

- Saluton.
- Saluton! Kiel vi fartas?
- Bone, dankon!
- Kion vi faras?
- Mi lernas Esperanton!
- Bonege! Ĉu mi povus fari tion kun vi?
- Certe!

Do people use that a lot?

Not as a greeting, not at all.

If you are visibly busy with something then you might be asked that.
