awake:Via firmo je la interreto: TTT Paĝaroj estas tiel pli ol gvido por varoj kaj servoj.
Instead of "TTT Paĝaroj", I wonder if "Retejoj" might not work for "websites".

I remember reading that Zamenhof himself cautioned about using "je" very much, and that its use should be quite rare. I've been thinking that "tra" might work here.

In all, my tentative modifications (subject to discussion, of course) would be...

Via firmo tra la interreto: Retejoj estas tiom pli ol gvido al varoj kaj servoj.

"Per" might work instead of "tra" as well.

To generate different ways of expressing the same idea in E-o, it is a good idea to try to focus on the meaning, not just the words. So another possible translation of this first bit might be:

Via firmao kaj la interreto : retejo povas esti multe pli ol katalogo de varoj kaj servoj...

Regarding being "en" the internet, this is actually a common idiom. "en la reto" is quite common, although we are talking about a metaphorical sense, and not literally being inside the internet.

Another elegant way to word that first sentence might be "Via firmao enrete:..."

"enrete" loosely translates to "online", but also has the idea of "on the internet".

I considered that choice myself. I think either would be fine. In the end I chose TTT paĝaroj because it was closer to the o.p's translation. I thought I changed enough and didn't want to discourage him by changing everything. ridulo.gif

In my view, the purpose of je is to prevent prepositions from acquiring additional meanings as a result of idiom forms. If you translate He bets on dogs as "li vetis sur hundoj" you're going to create some strange mental imagery for a non english-speaking esperantist.

The meanings of the esperanto prepositions are specifically and well defined, and in my view one should avoid usages which stretch their meaning.

tra and per strike me as incorrect, or at least very stretched usages here. per, in particular, doesn't really make sense to me in this context. So I picked je, which I think is more clear.

As Erinja notes below, "en" works idiomatically, but I still think it's a stretch of proper grammar. I don't like it. But, a quick check on google shows thousands of uses of "je la reto" vs hundreds of thousands of uses of "en la reto" so it seems that the greater part of Esperantujo disagrees with me. ridulo.gif

Also, I noticed you changed my tiel to tiom. If the original poster is still reading, this is a subtle variation and either would work I think.

Literally, the distinction would be

Webpages are (in this way) more than.... (tiel)

vs.

Webpages are (in this amount) more than... tiom

idiomatically, they both translate roughly as the o.p. intended, so that's a personal choice depending on your own sense of style.

How would you translate it?

Just be sure to make that "ttt-paĝaroj" or "TTT-paĝaroj". TTT is treated like a noun, so you can't combine it with the noun "paĝaroj" without making them a single word by hyphenating.

Zamenhof said to use "je" when no other prepositions seemed to fit the bill.

In this case, I think "tra" is a stretch, but "per" would have been ok meaning-wise (but still sounds a little weird). I liked Miland's suggestion of using "kaj". It does a good job of getting across the meaning without translating literally.

Ĝi estas via negoco disponata al viaj klientoj, ĉiam kaj ĉie.

Ĝi estas via negoco disponata al viaj klientoj, ĉiam kaj ĉie.
If the meaning is 'It's as if your company were open for clients and the public 24 hours a day and in every place' one possible rendering may be

'Estas kvazaŭ via firmao estus malferma po 24-horojn tage por klientoj kaj la publikon, en ĉiuj lokoj.'
