Hi

If the page doesn't have very much text on it, I think it should be pretty easy to find someone who will help translate it. It also depends on the language of the page. Is it in Portuguese only, or is it also in another language that someone can translate from?

I would post at the forum topic "Pri ĉio alia" and ask for help. Or else, if I were you, I would translate it myself, then ask for help to edit the translation. It is great language practice to try to translate something like that, even if you are just a beginner and make lots of mistakes!

If your purpose is to make the language more popular in your country, then you should learn it well enough to make your own translation of the webpage, because you will thus demonstrate to others that it is possible to learn.

I am learning! But I think there is no need to wait for my perfection. Here I can find peoples that have more capacity to do it.

Well,

I guess he tries to do things step by step and translating a homepage might be a good idea. If he goes on learning the language, he might soon be able to do such things on his own (an maybe let somebody proofread it).

I also consider writing some scientific articles in Vikipedio but certainly, I will ask my Esperanto teacher to proofread it (actually, she offered her help anyway).

At the beginning, it might be disappointing if one makes mistakes (what certainly will happen) and then people complain because the homepage is not written correctly...

Gerald

The fact that you are learning proves that you can begin something. But unless you follow through and complete the task, you will not have proved to the world that Esperanto is a language that can be learned by ordinary people to a useful level as a bridge language.
Also, if someone does the translation for you, will they not be a party to misleading others as to your grasp of the language?
Therefore, as a minimum, you should learn the language enough to prepare your own draft translation. Only then will you deserve the help of other E-ists in revising it.

If he does the translation himself and then gets help to edit it, I don't think that would be misleading.

If I see a company's website written in 6 languages, I don't think that a single person there speaks 6 languages fluently. Rather, I understand that there are people at the company who have at least a basic ability to communicate in those languages (and not all necessarily the same person)

If he is capable of helping a potential customer in Esperanto, even in not-very-good Esperanto, then I don't think it's misleading to have an Esperanto website translation that he had help with (and which is therefore free of errors).
