I was trying to read an Esperanto short story for beginners, and came across this phrase:
Ekde kiam lia fratino Galina el parolis tiujn vortojn ...
I understand this to mean "From the time his sister Galina spoke those words ...". However, I'm not sure why the "el" is there. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

This looks like a typo and should maybe read:
Ekde kiam lia fratino Galina elparolis tiujn vortojn ...
From the time his sister Galina pronounced/uttered those words.
Ekde kiam lia fratino Galina elparolis tiujn vortojn ...
From the time his sister Galina pronounced/uttered those words.

Thanks, nornen. That must be it. Typos are bad for beginners.
