Saluton, mondo! Mia nomo estas ス.

So, I just started last night my Esperanto course and I must say that I'm really looking forward to join the community, so I would like some advice on one topic I have somewhat trouble with: vocabulary.

Since I know a little bit of English and speak Portuguese and Italian fluently (not to mention marginal knowledge of quite some languages), understanding the lexicon is not the problem, what I really find difficult is memorizing it all! I learned my second and third languages through immersion, but since doing the exact same thing with Esperanto seems impossible, I would like some of your advice, maybe any techniques you've used to master Esperanto (or, for that matter, any language), it would be really really helpful!

I hope to master this wonderful lang asap so I hopefully will be able to communicate with you all, and not in English! Dankon!

Perhaps if u have a smartphone you could install a simple flashcard type app e.g. Anki or a much more basic but easier to use program like Kaka flashcards. Learning by rote is a bit grim but u can absorb vocabulary very rapidly using such tools. Good luck!

Some level of immersion is not entirely out of the question. If you use Linux you can change the operating language to Esperanto. You can also take part in forums like this one and listen to Esperanto radio to get accustomed to listening to the spoken language, this app is useful.

One noticeable thing for me from listening to radio is the variation in how the French, Germans and the Latin Americans speak the Language. The Germans and French seem to routinely not trill the R, but use the one from their respective languages. I think if English people used an English R they'd probably end up getting chastised!
