In a blog post in the Esperanto-USA website, member ‘benjamino’ suggested that the term ‘America’, when referring to the country whose capital is Washington, D. C., be replaced with the term ‘Merca’ (with its Esperanto translation as ‘Merko’). I agree, and employ this convention.
