According to Wikipedia, October 15 of each year is Global Handwashing Day, and they have an article on it, detailing the great health benefits that would ensue if people really got with the program. It seems like this ought to be one of the essential articles that has an Esperanto version, but in fact there is no Esperanto version. Indeed, the number of languages that the article on Global Handwashing Day is available in is far less than the number of languages that the article on dirt is available in. Oh well, maybe next year...

International Hand washing Day is quite timely as the following day, October 16, is World Food Day. It is also bizarrely National (which nation?) Boss's Day so my superior would be wise to wash his hands before getting my lunch ready. Tomorrow is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty followed on the 18th by International Vasectomy Day which suggests more vasectomies may mean less poverty. And of course October 24 is World Tripe Day so I will stop now before I'm shortlisted for a gong.
