En kiuj kuntekstoj ”ankoraŭ” signifas “ also” en la angla? Mi ĉiam pensas ke ankoraŭ signifas “ still” angle , sed mi ektrovis ke ĝi ankaŭ signifas “ also” . Kaj Kiel oni evitas la dusensencon?

I wasn't helpful of the gentleman in the earlier thread to equate ankoraŭ with also. The equivalent of also in Esperanto is ankaŭ.

In fact if you look at the 3 definitions under ankoraŭ in PIV, where synonyms are given, none of them is ankaŭ

It seems to me that perhaps you can unite these 3 definitons with the concept of extension.

Anyway, if you try translating into English some of the sentences in the Tekstaro (returned when searching with ankoraŭ) you will find yourself using a variety of expressions and perhaps occasionally 'also'. But not often.

Ankoraŭ da teo? Some more tea?
Ankoraŭ unu bieron antau ol foriri? Another beer before we go?
Ĉu vi vidis la kuraciston? Ankoraŭ ne. Not Yet.
ili iris ankoraŭ kelkan distancon. They went a bit further.
Ŝi estis ankoraŭ pli bela. She was even more beautiful.
Ĉu vi ankoraŭ amas ŝin? Do you still love her
