You can find a highly interesting article about the international language here:

hhmmm... reading this, we could conclude that esperanto is an anarchist movement. I wouldn't like to mix esperanto with politics...

I agree, Esperanto should be kept politically neutral, but I do not think that this article strongly implies that Esperanto is a political movement, it seems to sufficiently explain that the language is just the tool that some anti-G8 groups have chosen to use.

I enjoyed the read, thanks for the link.

I think it was Chesterton who said that common sense is the least common of senses, so I don't take it for granted that people will see the neutrality of Esperanto as something self evident as I do.

So, when I know or suspect that the asssociation of Esperanto with a political party, a religion, etc., may not please someone, I tend to throw other flavors into the mixture, so as to make it clear that our language may be used by anyone who wants easy international communication, regardless of his or her political or religious afiliation. There are plenty of different (even opposite) Esperanto societies in UEA's annuary to support this idea.

Regards,

Daniel

PS: there are some words about which ortography I'm not fully sure, and my laziness prevents me from consulting the dictionary right now. So, in case you find a mistake in this non-native English speaker, please be indulgent and take them as a sign of the necessity of a neutral common language like... well, you get the idea.

A perfect commentary, Daniel. Thank you.
