ceigered:I believe non US citizens are allowed in voting because even though we don't live in the country, the US is so influential that whatever happens there generally affects the rest of the world [..]After all we're all living in Amerika

FreeXenon:Esperanto is losing ground fast. It used to have over a 100 vote lead on the second idea in education. Please spread the word and go vote.I've got a widget on my Myspace, Facebook, and wikispace 'advertising' the idea on the site, maybe writing these events into the wikipedia article for Esperanto is a good idea? (albeit slightly cheeky)

I made that mistake, and I'm gathering that if one guy did it, about 10 other people must have done it too, either that or I'm stupider than I thought.

By the way, why does the registration only ask for your password to be typed in once? That's just asking for problems...

FreeXenon:Ok... we are no longer first in education...Well isn't that dandy... There must be some way to get the word out, but even then I guess there's the complication that even if it's first in education, Obama might take it too seriously. Also, consider Spanish or the other 'major world languages' like Mandarin, French, German, Arabic, Russian, Hindi, Portuguese (with Indonesian and a few others coming up behind). Of those, Spanish is definitely relevent to the education of young Americans considering the sheer cultural influences from América Latina. So without a significant push for Esperanto, I'm worried it might be overlooked quite easily...
But, on that note, I wouldn't mind if Esperanto became the world language or a creole of English and Spanish became the world language - language is the product of human thought, and because all humans are equal, all languages are equal in validity IMHO.

I'm a strong supporter of Esperanto, but really, Obama has so many better things to do, I would be disappointed in him if he spent even one second thinking about putting Esperanto into our schools. How about a national health service and a jobs program?, I would ask him.
