For illustration, I made a world map of the areas (highlighted in black) of esperanto opression by fascists.

- Also ignore that red colored area in latin america, it's supposed to be light gray.
- Finally, "free" (bourgeois) france should be colored gray, because I'm uncertain if there was any esperanto oppression during that time.
When I made the map, I was surprised to see how large the oppression areas were. They were in Europe and Asia, two areas where Esperanto was typically populated.
I did not include any "oppression" by the soviet union; because there seems to be no actual evidence that there was systemic oppression towards soviet esperantists (despite what bourgeois media claims). A bunch of soviet esperantists fought in the red army against the nazis, and they weren't oppressed at all. Of course, "a world map of the areas of esperanto opression by fascists" should not include the unoccupied territories of the Soviet Union. There, it was not the fascists who were engaged in such oppression, but the communists.

Did Japan really repress Esperanto? I'd be interested to hear if it did.
Either way, I don't think the Esperanto movement was the highest priority for any of the combatants in WW2. Even the Fascists looked for bigger fish first.
