Technically, it could be broken down as am-or/i, "to be a love-gold", but that doesn't really make much sense, does it?

Sorry, I should have checked something like that. Thanks for the correction.
Kind regards,
Martin.

'amor' as a root for love, perhaps, instead of amo?
The dictionary has this for the roor 'amoro':
Amoro (Amor·o) Cupid, Eros
amoro (amor·o) sexual intercourse
amori (amor·i ← amor·o) to make love
Just a thought..
EDIT: Wow.... you guys are quick! =)

Mart1986:I've been looking around and I can't find the meaning of the "or" suffix. Can anyone lend a quick hand?I don't know such a suffix (but maybe I make a mistake). I think "amor" is simply another stem :
Thanks, Martin.
"ami" : to love,
"amori" : to have sex.

I suppose it looks like I was previously speaking about a sexual subject - but infact I just read this word somewhere and confused it as the root "am" with an "or" suffix
This is officially the fastest responded-to forum post I have ever been part of. I would go as far as saying it's quicker than an instant messenger.
